Vancouver is my favourite city in Canada. It has beaches, nightlife, nature, amazing hiking, great restaurants and an ever-growing craft beer scene. After spending a year living in Vancouver, I’ve put together my top 5 things to do in third largest city in Canada!

1. Hiking on the North Shore

There are so many great hikes that start from the North Shore of Vancouver. Lynn Valley and Capilano Regional Park are just two of the parks found on the North Shore that are home to many trailheads for several easy to difficult trails. The North Shore can easily be reached by bus or ferry from downtown Vancouver.

2. Visit the Farmers Markets

During the Spring and Summer months, different farmers’ markets pop up all over the city. There is a different market to visit each day of the week. My favourite markets include the Friday night market at Lonsdale Quay and the farmers’ market in Kitsilano.

3. Kayaking at Deep Cove

There are plenty of great kayaking opportunities around the city. My favourite is at Deep Cove where you can either spend the day, or take an overnight trip to a waterfall just off the river. Another great kayaking trip is to Bowen Island.

4. Watch the sunset from Stanley Park or Lonsdale Quay

Vancouver has some stunning sunsets. Lonsdale Quay offers a sunset with the cityscape in the foreground, and Stanley Park offers a more undisturbed ocean sunset.

5. Beer tasting at one of the new craft breweries

The craft beer scene is taking off in Vancouver, with new breweries opening up every few months. Head down to one of the many breweries, grab a tasting flight of beers, and enjoy!
